Makeup Breakdown - Model Makeup Sahar

This is a sequel of my post on Model Makeup Beauty Look on Sahar which you can read here. It was such fun to with photographer Bhawana Verma and model Sahar El Maataoui and we got some amazing pictures out of the venture.

I wanted to do a soft metallic look which is effortless, a bit supernatural looking and which embraced the delicate features of beautiful Sahar. This makeup is something everyone of every skin color and skin type can do and still achieve a fabulous complexion and of course a lot of compliments too!! One should take this look as a template and modify it according to their own needs....its a universal makeup look and one can easily do this without much of a hassle.

So lets see how I achieved this look,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Intense Smokey Eyes

This is one of the practice looks I did before going to a client's house. For a makeup artist like me, I prefer to not only be organized and methodical but also sometimes I practice certain makeup looks before hand so that I can gauge the intensity of the makeup that has to be done.

I have done a the products used section HERE and now I shall be doing step by step method on how to achieve this dreamy smokey look..........

Pop Art - Fuchsia Eyes

Pop Art Culture was inspired by Andy Warhol, a painter with vivid imagination and bright colors. Using just a single color which is intensely bright like a FUCHSIA pearl would be the most amazing thing to do. Its a 'modern' punk in its own way. The look is so versatile that it can transit from a demure monochromatic makeup (which I have done here) to a high impact electric makeup using brights (Urban Decay Electric Palette is calling).

I have talked about the Products Used for this look on Beauty Traveller. Do click HERE to find the details. Lets see, how to achieve this Fuchsia Monochromatic look inspired by Pop Art.

Photography Makeup : The Hollywood Starlet - Makeup Breakdown

I must thank Alina and Kunal for this awesome experience. It was a small shoot for a reputed magazine and a lot of fun too...I have shared my products list over HERE. Lets see how to achieve this look.....Please remember that this picture is not very clear as I took it in dim yellow lights with my Blackberry Q10 phone and edited with www.picmonkey.com

This look is a perfect evening wear look and is quite bedazzling. The glitters sizzle and glimmer in the evening lights and the feline flick just oozes sensuality. Its advisable to keep the rest of makeup in a neutral peachy tones so that it balances the amazing intense dark smokey glittery eyes.

So lets have a look on how to achieve this makeup look.........

The Emerald Gaze

I do a lot of practice to perfect a few looks and if and when they are successful, I try to take pictures and do a quick yet descriptive tutorial on them. Such is this one called 'Emerald Daze'. Emerald is one of the colors that real mesmerizes me. Its just so magical!!

I have used my Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette to do this makeup. Unfortunately this is not a step by step tutorial and if you like it, then I would love to do one soon.

So do keep reading......................

Gris Fume

I have been owning this Lancome eyeshadow palette for the longest and somehow I never did a look with it until recently. They are very beautiful and can create some mesmerizing looks when used wet or dry. This palette Gris fume is one of the bedazzling evening palettes that can be used to create beautiful eye makeup looks. The best part is that Lancome makes the application sound and look incredibly easy by suggesting their application methods (which I didn't really follow).

'Gris Fume' translates as grey smoke and there is something unusually mysterious and divine aboue grey and silver eyeshadows (If you know my love for Artemis, the moon goddess). This is the most underrated color of the beauty world and has to be tackled really well as it may go wrong. The Gris Fume Palette seems to have a grey with a tinge of blue to create that brightening effect on eyes. Paired with smokey blacks and an intense eye liner pencil, this look is one of those all occasion looks and would definitely be a head turner.

Model Makeups

I had fun working with Photographer Shikha Sharma and Brazilian Model Viktorya for this shoot. It was a lovely catalogue shoot featuring Indian clothes and the model looked perfect and very appealing in traditional yet modern Indian ensembles. Please pardon me for the photo quality. They were clicked from my Blackberry and I am liking the way they turned out. I also met the lovely Parita and gave her the blush she got from the blog sale. All went well and I went home with a promising cheque as a payment for the day.

Lets have a quick look at the products used....

Transformation Looks - GOLD TREASURE

These were 2 trial looks that I was practicing and they came out to be incredibly beautiful, beautiful enough to be blogged and shared. Unfortunately I was not able to shoot the tutorial (since I was trying this look for a client's makeup the next day) but I shall share on how I created it.

Basically its the same eye makeup for this and the subsequent post that shall follow. Its the glitters that completely transform the look and thence the name. For GOLD TREASURE, I was inspired by the treasure chests in Pirate movies. The gold coins scintillating from these treasure chests look so bright when light falls on them and that's what happens in this look.

So lets see how to achieve this look in some easy steps..........

Old Hollywood Inspired...........

Yesterday I did this makeup for Prerna that was inspired by the Hollywood sirens using the mesmerizing eye makeup techniques of makeup maven Charlotte Tilbury.

I love a warm golden bronze eye on an olive skin. It just looks ethereal and glowing and blends well the skin's coloring. Also we had a chance to use some brand new products as I am doing Prerna's makeup after a long time. She has been busy with the pre-production of 3 Hindi films and thence mostly out for meetings and work with no time to glam up. The glam days are on the way and I am sure that I'll be able to share the innovative looks that we have done together.

So lets have a quick look at the products and some anecdotes and relevant links on product information and  their applications.............

Noir D'Or - Black and Gold smokey eyes

I have been waiting for that golden chance to do a gold and black smokey eye but somehow I never happened to do it until recently when a fellow blogger and friend Aparajita wanted to try it for her wedding. I loved the idea and promised her to do 2 tutorials for the same. This is the first one.

Before we get on to the tutorial, I'd like to highlight the precautions one need to take and not ignore when using a black or a gold color on the eyes. This is important to know as both the colors have their strengths and gold is highly reflective where as black can be stark and receding. When Gold is warm, Black is a cool color and they can clash if they meet. Gold is a highlighting color while black is a defining color. So a transition color is what is needed in between the two or else you get a partition on your lids.

Lets have a look at ways to create a black-gold smokey eye...........

Bedazzled Evenings

Smokey eyes are the most amazing creations ever. The 'blur' and the 'haze' look ever so mesmerizing. I heart a 3 Dimensional smokey eye which looks so beautiful and sensual and is always an easy way to be a stunner. The color of the smoke is mostly grey and black thence the official colors of the smokey eye regardless of choosing browns and bronzes. Plus a cool toned eye can look amazing on warmer skin tones and makes the irises of the eyes pop.

Add some falsies and you look like a rock star (a la Beyonce). For this look I am inspired by performers like  Beyonce, Rihanna and JLo. They are known for their scintillating eyes and its so easy to achieve them.

Lets see the step by step application..........

Bridal Makeup

I had a wonderful time doing my friend Sonam's makeup for her wedding. She has amazingly flawless skin, beautiful features and she's a true Sagittarian with a heart of Gold (like mine).

There were two makeup changes. One for the Welcoming Ceremony and Baaraat and another for the pheras and the hymns of the Hindu Marriage. Keeping the makeup almost the same in both the looks, I did a couple of subtle changes and brought the drama to different levels. Please note that these pictures are taken with my Blackberry Q10 who seems to have done a decent job in getting pics that show the makeup that is done.

So lets have a look on how to achieve Sonam's wedding makeup.........

Valentine's Day Looks - Mesmerized in Greys

'Grey' is a very mysterious color. Its mesmerizing, hypnotizing and very glamorous. All this if you choose the RIGHT grey and the RIGHT way to wear it. I have always loved to play with a grey that has a subtle blue undertone and then pair it with a warm bedazzling color like GOLD and get some vivid and contrasting effects. Its the contrast that creates the mesmeric look.

A grey toned eye with some ROSE GOLD thrown in, can look beautiful and is a perfect date look for Valentine's Day. A great idea to amp up the peepers. Why not let the eyes do the talking?

Lets see how to do this look...........
